ABSTRACT: The Role of Digital Literacy in Vocational Skill Acquisition explores the significance of digital literacy as a foundational skill for vocational students in acquiring and applying technical competencies in the digital era. This study investigates how digital literacy influences skill development, employability, and career advancement in vocational education settings. The objectives were: to assess the level of digital literacy among vocational students and educators, to analyze the impact of digital literacy on vocational skill acquisition and workplace readiness, and to recommend strategies for enhancing digital literacy in vocational curricula. A survey research design was chosen to gather data from vocational students, educators, and employers, providing insights into current digital literacy practices and perceptions in vocational education. A sample size of 300 respondents was purposively selected to include participants from technical colleges and vocational training centers in Rivers State, Nigeria, known for their diverse digital literacy initiatives. The case study focused on a vocational school in Port Harcourt, highlighting successful integration of digital literacy modules into vocational programs. Findings indicated that proficiency in digital literacy enhanced students' ability to adapt to technological changes, improved job prospects, and facilitated continuous learning in vocational fields. It is recommended that vocational institutions should embed digital literacy across all vocational programs, offer specialized training for educators on digital tools, collaborate with industry partners for technology integration, and provide equitable access to digital resources to foster comprehensive digital literacy among vocational students.
